Knowledge - strengthening our faith & encouraging our walk

Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. - Psalm 119:105

-THIS SUNDAY'S TEXT- KNOWLEDGE – Strengthening our Faith & Encouraging our Walk

Last Sunday we focused on the first part of 2 Peter 1. Verse 2 reads, May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. And verse 3 reads, His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence.

Now read 2 Peter 1:16-21

In these verses, look for answers to the following questions:

  1. What did Peter say they made known? Verse 16
  2. What did they not follow in making this known to them? Verse 16
  3. What two things did Peter focus on in making the Lord Jesus Christ known to them? Verses 17-18
  4. Which of the two was more sure? Verse 19
  5. Why is the prophetic word more sure than experience?
  6. What makes Scripture (the Word of God) different from any other book we read? Verse 20-21

Read 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 4:1-5

-CONSIDER & MEDITATE-

Think about it – How much time do you spend in the Word weekly? Why do you think you spend so much or so little time in the Word? How much time would you like to spend in the Word each week?

-PRAYER & THANKSGIVING- Thank God for the provision of His Word.

Pray about it – Ask God to give you a hunger for His Word. Ask God to give you a heart and mind that desires to put His Word to memory. Ask God to use you to encourage others with His Word.
