The Gate is Narrow; the Way is Hard? 4/30/23

Weekly Memory Verse: "I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep do not listen to them. I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. " - John 10:7-9

Sermon Scripture Reading: Luke 13:22-30

-THIS SUNDAY'S SERMON-

Dear River Family,

Read Matthew 7:13-27. Jesus explains in Matthew 7:13-14 that the gate to eternal life is narrow and the way is hard. How does this compare to what He says in Matthew 11:28-30? Again, Jesus never contradicts Himself, so we must do some work in understanding what Jesus means by a narrow gate and a way that is hard. What are some other statements that Jesus makes that may help us understand that the way to eternal life might be hard? After Jesus talks about the narrow and broad way, He gives three warnings. Identify the warnings and lets be encouraged to be wise in that as we hear the words of Jesus, let us obey.

Let's Remember:

  • Lets go after the log in our own eye.
  • Lets care for our brother's/sister's heart in grace and truth
  • Lets be prayerful in these things
  • Lets seek the Lord's wisdom in His Word
  • Lets ask the Lord to go with us as we encourage one another to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord who calls us to His own glory and kingdom.
  • Lets remember and rejoice in the cross of Christ and His powerful resurrection.
  • Lets give thanks for our salvation in Jesus.

I am looking forward to growing in Christ and worshipping Him with you this Sunday.

Grace and Peace, Eric
